Roshek Redevelopment Project
On exhibit in the Roshek Building, 700 Locust Street, 1st Floor, Dubuque, Iowa
This work was selected by Dubuque Initiatives to be displayed in the newly renovated Roshek Building, in order to "generate excitement for the arrival of IBM and for the sustainable rehabilitation of the historic Roshek Brothers Department Store building."
Objective: "Artwork should portray
connections between The Roshek Building and its significance to Dubuque.
The focus may be on the past, present, and/or future. "
In this work entitled “Pieces of Dubuque", architectural elements of the City's landmark buildings have been combined.
The Roshek Building has served as a center of commerce in downtown Dubuque for many years. This theme is portrayed by the placement of the Roshek symbol as the focal point, surrounded by other discernible Dubuque fixtures.
These architectural elements may not be recognized at first glance, but upon further investigation prove to be pieces of noteworthy buildings....
